This course provides education practitioners in the Ed. program with research skills and strategies for conducting a literature review. Critical thinking skills, synthesis of information, and application of the literature are emphasized to support the feasibility and relevance of a research study.

The candidate will write a Central Research Question and Purpose Statement for his or her research topic to receive approval. This is a 2-page assignment. The candidate will complete two quizzes. The first quiz will be 20 questions from the text reading and study information. The second quiz will be 25 questions on information on the 7 th edition of APA formatting guidelines found in Liberty University's Online Writing Center.


The candidate will have 2 hours applied project literature review complete each quiz. The candidate will use the information from the textbook reading to write an Overview section for his or her literature review.


The candidate will first locate two current less than 5 years since publicationscholarly peer-reviewed journal articles. This is a page assignment excluding the title page and reference page, applied project literature review. The candidate will use the template provided to compare two scholarly articles. The Literature Review will follow the basic structure of the capstone project template and be 5 pages, excluding title and reference pages.


The Literature Review must follow current APA format and cite at least 12 scholarly sources that have been published within the last 5 years. The candidate will develop an outline for his or her research topic. The outline must include level one and level two headings.
